Two Great Fish Recipes To Help You Be Healthier This Year

by Ethan Stone

Eating healthy starts with the ingredients that you use in your cooking. When you work with fresh, high quality ingredients, it goes a long way towards making your entire meal more healthy. Eating more fish, fresh vegetables, and fruits can go a long way to helping you be healthier in body and mind. Here are a couple of recipes that you can use that will help you to make great tasting, healthy dishes that your whole family will enjoy.

Italian Broiled Salmon

  • 4 salmon filets, approximately 220 grams each
  • 30 milliliters of lemon juice
  • 60 grams of mixed Italian seasonings (a dried mixture of basil, oregano, rosemary, and thyme)
  • 30 grams of granulated garlic

Cover the salmon filets in Italian seasoning and garlic and sprinkle a little lemon juice on top. Preheat the broiler in your oven and place the salmon filets on a broiler pan. Once the oven is heated, put it into the oven so that the tops of the fish are approximately 15 centimeters from the broiler. Cook for 3 minutes and flip the fish over. Cook for another three minutes and serve immediately.

Because of the natural oils in the fish, you don't need to use any extra oils on this dish. As a result, this is an incredibly flavorful, yet extremely healthy dish. Serve it with roasted red potatoes, corn, and a light salad for a complete meal.

Hawaiian Mahi Mahi

  • 4 mahi mahi filets, approximately 220 grams each
  • 60 milliliters of pineapple juice
  • 30 milliliters of soy sauce
  • 15 grams of light brown sugar

Combine the pineapple juice, soy sauce, and brown sugar in a pan. Boil on medium heat for 5 minutes, until the mixture has reduced by half. Brush the sauce on the mahi mahi filets and put the filets on a jelly roll pan. Bake the fish for 12 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius. Once they are done, serve with steamed peppers, onions and brown rice.

Mahi mahi is a white fleshed tropical fish that has a mild flavor. Because of this, it works well with a variety of different flavors and seasonings. You can mix up the flavors to create your own different glazes.

Both of these fishes are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients and can be a part of a healthier diet. As you look at your resolution to eat healthier this year, use recipes like these to improve your health without sacrificing taste.
